Thanksgiving feasts!

While Charles and I are lucky enough to have families so willing to feed us on the holidays [and oh my they do!] we decided to do our own Thanksgiving dinner this year. Now I'm fully aware that cooking such a large meal for two people is not really sensible... but come one, who is during the holidays?

Charles got to pick out the turkey, because he wouldn't have it any other way. Nor would he let anyone help during the preparation of his 20 pound bird. That's right, I said 20 pounds. As Crystal and I tried to help clean the turkey, we were nearly booted out of the kitchen. It seemed that he spent the whole day slaving over a hot stove. When he wasn't basting the turkey, he was boiling potatoes or setting out pans for the next items to be prepared.

I must say though, He really did a wonderful job. Even having to put up with me whining about not being able to leave the house, his undying attention to that turkey really paid off. Charles really has developed his culinary skills, even if you have to stand by and watch guard to ensure nothing lights on fire.

My only job here, was to take care of the potatoes, and anything remotely healthy. Due to our lack of kitchen supplies, this was pretty difficult. Mashing potatoes by stabbing them with a spatula is not easy :). As Mother taught me well, I insured there was a vegetable tray set out, and perfectly seasoned asparagus prepared. We topped off our meal with a bottle of Cider, and hopes for many more holiday meals to share.
